I know young people and everyone else for that matter just (apparently) has sex whenever they feel like it. Christians fornicate and cohabitate worse than the heathen these days. I also definitely recognize that mistakes and “accidents” happen. If I didn’t believe in forgiveness, I would be by definition the stupidest disciple of Jesus who ever existed. A disciple knows first above everything and everyone that his debt with God is bigger than anyone else’s. He extends mercy to other sinners because he believes he is the chief of sinners.
All that said…
How in the Sam Hill are you gonna make a baby, and then decide—while your age starts with a “1” or barely a “2”—that this isn’t going to work out, and you’ll go find someone else to have sex with? This serial monogamy stuff is just nuts, man. There are things even more nuts, but I cannot fathom a more painful question for a child, and from a child, than, “How come Daddy isn’t here with us?” Or worse, “Who is my Daddy?”
Believe me, not every couple should even attempt to “make it work.” But on behalf of every kid of a single parent, divorced parents, et cetera, the question is hanging out there, demanding to be asked, and answered: “Who do you people think you are? What is wrong with you?” I don’t have an answer.
Maybe it’s easy for me to say. I’m just a cripple, and to be completely honest, I haven’t fit in well with the abled and ableist world to begin with. I’ve rarely had a chance to screw up my life with a night of passion, especially with “no strings attached.” Then again, if guys that have worse CP than I do can find sex workers, I could have done the same, I suppose. One lady who told her story with The Moth took her son to Vegas so he could have sex with a professional. I sympathize, in a way. But my goodness, I don’t understand the furtive, half-arsed nature of treating sex like eating, and worse, bending the world to your whim, when it blows up in your face.
You know what else is messed up? A woman who sells sex for money is a whore, but “man-whore” is a punchline. Feminism is right about one thing: Men would destroy women in the main, before they took accountability for themselves, if we let them.
And that brings us to the “incels.” “Involuntary celibates,” to spell it out. It’s bad to have sex with people to whom you’re not married. But it’s only “involuntary” because you’re entitled and selfish (and possibly dangerous). For the scores of entitled, selfish, superficial women—and they do absolutely exist—no one is entitled without qualification or consent to the body of another person. Why do I even have to say this? I don’t know how long I’ll be single. Maybe until I die. But if anything, let me yearn without bitterness, and without malice. If I’m a “simp,” so be it. The only thing worse than missing eternal happiness would be a firm determination to be unhappy here, and ending up with Hell the entire time.
